1.How to choose a server
①Official Servers
Official servers are operated by Facepunch Studios.
As such, they are reliable and stable, but the server size is large and the large number of players makes it a harsh environment for new players.
It is like jumping into a group of professional hitmen with a resume.
Additionally, depending on how overcrowded the server is and the time of year, there may be a waiting list to get in.
The official servers are filled with veterans and lunatics, so for beginners who don’t know much about RUST, I seriously do not recommend it.
Many people enter the official servers listed at the top of the list without knowing this, and as a result of being beaten up, they quit RUST immediately.
Even at the stage of collecting materials to build buildings, you can be killed, and even if you are lucky enough to have the materials you have collected, you can still be attacked in the middle of building your buildings.
They may be killed forever, with no idea of what is right or wrong.
For them, it does not matter if you are in the middle of nowhere.
Therefore, we recommend that you join a community server or a mod server after you have some knowledge of RUST.
However, even community servers can sometimes be bumped around.
There are no exceptions, but it is possible to at least reduce the encounter rate.
②Community servers
On the other hand, community servers are suitable for beginners because they are freely run by players and therefore offer a high degree of freedom.
The features are the following 5 points!
Beginner-friendly (servers are also available)
Community servers are often more beginner-friendly than official servers.
For example, some servers have a dedicated area for new players or offer starter kits.
Rules and administration
On community servers, server administrators set their own rules. So they can use their administrative privileges to take appropriate action against players.
Official servers are often quicker to respond, which tends to be slower because they act more carefully. Of course, there is a pinch of difference…
Customizability
Community servers allow the server administrator to customize the server freely, so there may be unique worldviews, rules, equipment, items, etc. that cannot be found on official servers.
Some community servers also offer facilities and buildings that are not available on official servers.
This allows for growth beyond a simple survival game.
Active community
Players on the server can form club teams.
This allows a large community to interact and enjoy cooperative play.
Events
Server administrators and players organize a variety of events.
Examples include PvP tournaments, races, and the search for hidden treasure chests. These events create opportunities to bring players deeper into the world of RUST.
Now that we have told you that it is important to find a suitable server from among the many servers available at RUST, we would like to briefly summarize the information you need to make a selection.
Here is a brief summary of the information needed to make a selection.
- Server Region
- Server type
- Number of people on the server
- Team size limits
Basic server information is often associated with the server name.
You can also click on the server name for more information and rules.
2.Server Region Zone
First of all, unfortunately there is currently no JP server among the official servers. (2023/1/1)
There are a few community servers and mod servers, but they have a small number of people and there are some retired people who eventually cannot settle down (it can be said that we should not ask RUST to settle down in the first place).
So you’re thinking, “I get that the Japan server isn’t official, but what difference does that server’s regional zone make?” That’s the question, isn’t it?
The major change is the ping value and active time zone.
What is the ping value?
If you play games often, you probably don’t need an explanation, but for beginners, here it is.
Ping value is a numerical value of the time it takes to send and receive data.
The higher the ping value, the more disadvantageous it is.
For example, suppose you are facing an enemy and your ping value is 100 and the enemy’s is 10.
Although the difference is not as great as 10 times the ping value when you are actually facing the enemy, there will definitely be a delay (lag).
Therefore, enemies may appear as if they are standing still,
The image becomes like a slideshow of still pictures instead of a video.
In other words, the enemy will recognize you smoothly and attack you, but you will not be able to follow them,
You cannot track them, you cannot attack them, and you cannot counterattack….
In such an unreasonable situation, at least I would not play.
In other words, the location of the server is very important!
Because if a Japanese person plays on a server on the other side of the world, and a person from that area plays on a server on the other side of the world…
Because the ping value is totally different: !!!!
I just hope you all don’t go crazy with the ping values.
Do you want to cover or avoid the active time?
For example, if you play on a server in the EU, the time difference is +8 in Japan time, so there is an 8-hour time difference.
This is important because the active time changes depending on which region the server is in.
The base time for server resets and wipes also changes from region to region. For example, let’s say it is a Thursday wipe on an EU server. (In Japan, it is early Friday morning due to the time difference.)
In Japan, the wipe happens early in the morning around 4:00 a.m. or so.
If you are a working person, it will be difficult to dash for the wipe.(4:00 or 5:00 is the most common time. Wipe times change depending on the server, so be sure to check).
And yet, players in the EU region can do wipe dashes at 8pm to 9pm or so.
For Japanese, it’s too much of a handicap with the local region.
And since the regionality of players fluctuates depending on the server region
The active time of the day will inevitably change.
If you can only play at night and don’t want to get involved with a lot of enemies (players), you can play on a US server.
The time you are playing in RUST at night, the population will decrease because it is morning on the other side.Choose your server carefully by comparing the characteristics that emerge in different regional zones of the server in this way. This is a very important consideration for your enjoyable RUST life.
3.Sever types
If you are watching RUST videos, you may have a strong image of PvP, but PvP is not the only type of RUST.
There are three main forms of RUST servers.
- PvP servers
- PvE servers
- PvPvE servers (zombies are here)
In addition, there are several modes of servers, some of which are set apart from the general survival mode.
Creative servers (building servers)
Combat servers (combat training servers)
3-1 Creative Server
In RUST’s Creative Server, you can design “houses” that are indispensable for daily life.
There is no need to gather wood and stone, and no need to turn steel into iron pieces.
The control buttons and performance may vary from server to server, but you can obtain materials with a single setting and a single button.
What kind of house will you live in? What kind of house is less likely to be destroyed?
What is the structure of that house?
I want to think of a trap base! etc. etc.
There are a wide variety of ways to use creative servers.
3-2 Combat Server
In the Combat Server, you can practice using firearms and other weapons in RUST.
Aim practice and practice against other players using the firearms in RUST are available.
The first step is to enter the combat server to learn how to handle weapons.
We have heard from some of the better players that they have actually moved to the PvP server.
They practice combat on the combat server, decide on a creative server to configure their base of operations, and then take on the PvP challenge with everything in place….
Even if you know that this is the ideal situation, your desire to play may get the better of you.
In such a case, the best thing to do is to jump in, but don’t trust others.
4.How to play depends on the number of people on the server
Among RUST’s servers, there are popular and unpopular servers.
In a popular server, there are 300 to 500 people playing at the same time.
This means that you can encounter enemies all you want. Hopefully, supplies will be gathered quickly, but it is truly a war.
However, it is not uncommon to find single digit numbers even on official servers, so you may want to decide based on the atmosphere after you try it out.
If there are only a few players, you can take it easy, destroy other people’s houses…
If there are 500 players, you will be an enemy before the moment you enter the game.
If there are 500 players, the enemies are right in front of you from the moment you enter.
Huge buildings as far as the eye can see.
Even if you manage to get a kill, enemies will appear there to take advantage of the fishermen.
Then, the enemy with a gun finds it and opens fire.
Hearing the sound of gunfire, the surrounding enemies rallied.
A big war.
It may be best to play on a server with a style that suits you.
5.Servers with team size limits
RUST can be played solo, but it is also possible to play with a team.
Some of the many servers have a maximum number of team members.
The range of the number of people limit in RUST is,
Solo / Duo / Trio / Squad / Unlimited
The number of players is divided into Solo, Duo, Trio, Squad, and No Limit.
Basically, if there is a limit on the number of players, it will be stated in the server name.
Please look at the server name to determine if there is a limit and make sure you do not disobey the server rules.
If there is a limit, cheating will also be reported.
Cheat No, ZETTA!
6.Summary
Now you can say, “I don’t know where to judge which RUST server to use…”
There should be no such thing!By the way, I was with a friend who played a little bit first.
I started on the Japanese community server. We had many good encounters and some of us are still playing together.
There are also people who come to watch our distribution.
Back then, I was a raw good guy and generally thought everyone was good. Now I am a raw evil person.
I am sure that my enemies don’t know “good” yet.
Then I won’t give them goodness either!
After deciding which server to play on, the next step is how to play on the server!
RUST is a game that is difficult to lecture and gather information about.
But I hope that the circle of RUST will expand.
